The aim of my research is to understand the background of the diverse problems that immigrant children and youth face in their attempts to participate in the host society through education.
I conduct an international comparative study to examine the role of school education in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society, its relationship with nationalism and ethnicity, and the privileges of the majority (whiteness, Japaneseness) .
My areas of specialization are sociology of education and sociology.

In addition to teaching sociology of education and migration studies, I am attempting to develop new teaching curriculum and methods in collaboration with companies and organizations outside of the university.
